چکیده

The aim of this paper is to simulate the propagation linear elastic crack in 3D structures using latest innovation developed Ansys software, which Separating Morphing and Adaptive Remeshing Technology (SMART), order enable automatic remeshing during a simulation fracture behaviors. ANSYS Mechanical APDL 19.2 (Ansys, Inc., Canonsburg, PA, USA), used by employing special mechanism ANSYS, smart growth method, accurately predict paths associated stress intensity factors. For accurate prediction mixed-mode factors (SIFs), interaction integral technique has been employed. This approach for SIFs three-point bending beam, six different configurations: three configurations with holes, other without holes involving mechanics (LEFM) assumption. results indicated that was attracted hole changes its trajectory reach or floats grows when missing. verification, data available open literature on experimental path trajectories were compared computational study results, very good agreement found.

Finite Element Model of Crack Growth under Mixed Mode Loading

In this paper, in order to predict the crack growth trajectory and to evaluate the SIF under mixed modes (I & II), one proposes a new finite element program for crack growth using the source code written in FORTRAN. The fin ite element mesh is generated using an advancing front method, where the generation of the background mesh and the construction of singular elements are also added to this d...

Threshold stress intensity factor and crack growth rate prediction under mixed-mode loading

A new mixed-mode threshold stress intensity factor is developed using a critical plane-based multiaxial fatigue theory and the Kitagawa diagram. The proposed method is a nominal approach since the fatigue damage is evaluated using remote stresses acting on a cracked component rather than stresses near the crack tip. An equivalent stress intensity factor defined on the critical plane is proposed...

Finite Element Modeling of Crack Initiation Angle Under Mixed Mode (I/II) Fracture

Present study deals with the prediction of crack initiation angle for mixed mode (I/II) fracture using finite element techniques and J-Integral based approach. The FE code ANSYS is used to estimate the stress intensity factor numerically. The estimated values of SIF were incorporated into six different crack initiation angle criteria to predict the crack initiation angle. Single edge crack spec...

Crack Growth and Lifetime of Concrete under Long Time Loading

Edge-notched eccentrically compressed fracture specimens made of aggregate of reduced size are loaded in standard creep test frames. Measurements of the time rate of crack mouth opening in notched concrete specimens subjected to constant load of almost one month duration are reported and analyzed. To reveal the size effect, geometrically similar specimens of four sizes in the ratio I :2:4:8 are...

The Effect of Inclined U-Notch Geometry on Mode Ratio (KII/KI) under Mixed Mode (I + II) Loading

In inclined U-notches, the mixed mode (I + II) loading occurs and the mode ratio can be increased by varying the notch angle. In this paper, the effect of the inclined U-notch geometry, i.e. the notch depth, the notch angle, the notch root radius, and the position of the notch with respect to supports, on the mode ratio (KII/KI) have been studied. Three-point bending and plane strain condition ...
